Letter from our Chief
Boozhoo. Aaniin?
It is my pleasure to greet the people of Waywayseecappo.
As you are aware, we have completed an Election on February 24, 2025, for the positions of Chief and six Council. I thank the membership for the four-year mandate to act as your Chief for our community. I would like to welcome the two new Council Members: Nathan Twovoice and Gabrielle Brandon. I would also like to thank previous Council Members, Laura Brandon and Joseph Gambler for their service to the Waywayseecappo First Nation in the past four years. Also, we welcome back Councillor Melville Wabash, Councillor Anthony Longclaws, Councillor Paul Mentuck Jr., and Councillor Tim Cloud who successfully retained their positions for another four years.
I have been our community’s Chief for many years and have seen great growth in our First Nation. I recall all the years that have gone by and how we have been finding our way on Mother Earth. I would like to acknowledge our Elders, those with us and those gone on, who have given spiritual guidance to the Leadership of the Community. I would like to acknowledge our membership who play an important part in the positive development of our community, and, lastly, I would like to acknowledge the children and the youth, the reason we continue to strive for a better way of life. When we work together in a good way we can achieve much better living conditions, healing from past wounds and history, and a positive outlook for our future. Miigwech.
